Christmas in the Air

Spanish Class:

Planning - and Food

Hola! :)

So quick story. On Wednesday we had to go get the oil changed in our car and they said it would be about half an hour but of course it ended up taking about 3 because more people started coming in and apparently the tires needed to be changed (you know how car places are). But while we were there waiting we met this man named Johnny Ray Kennedy. Quite a name right? I told him it sounds like someone famous. Anyway, I talked with him for the entire 3 hours that we were waiting and it was the best thing ever. I could basically tell you his whole life story. He is this 70-year-old black man who has been through it all. We gave him a Book of Mormon and basically had a lesson with him right there. We talked about prophets, read the introduction, and told him about Joseph Smith. He said that he would really love to learn more and would love to know if it's true. We left him with the commitment to pray about it. He said he would. I love being a missionary guys.

Also we set a baptismal date with Katia! It's for February first because she is going to the Dominican Republic for a month to visit her daughter. I think I told you that last week? But anyway, she is so excited! She has been coming to church and all the activities for the past couple of weeks and she fits right in with the branch. The members have been really great with her and she told us that she feels right at home. She just has a natural love for the gospel and it's such a great example to me.

Did you guys like the First Presidency Christmas Devotional? I thought it was really beautiful. We watched it in Katia's apartment with her. She was fascinated by all the people that were there at the Conference Center, the Christmas decorations, how amazing Temple Square looks, the choir, and the beautiful talks given. She is so great you guys.

That's about it for my week, we find out Saturday about transfers! Oh also almost forgot, Christmas conference is this Wednesday. It's where the whole mission gets together and people share their talents and there are speakers. I'm really excited Hermana Flores says it's really amazing.

Love you all and I hope you have a great week!

Love,
Hermana San Juan

  1. I love the pictures. Your apartment is really quite nice, far better than 99% of those for the missionaries in Wales. You look so cute, especially when you are planning. What's with the matchy-matchy outfits? You guys are too cute. I'm excited for Katia. Love you, Grandma

  3. Christmas is the BEST time to be a missionary! I miss it so much! Your apartment looks so cute--much better than most that I had in WY and MT. You are amazing!! Keep up the good work. We pray for you daily here at the Thomson household. I love listening to my little kids pray for you.
